Spain international Ander Herrera has reportedly put his long-term future with Manchester United in doubt. The 28-year-old has evolved into a key player over the past couple of seasons, but he 'does not know' whether his contract will be extended beyond the summer of 2019.
In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Herrera said: "I will definitely see out the year I have left but I don't know if I will sign a new one. We have started talking, but nothing has been decided yet."
Herrera's initial contract had been due to expire at the end of the campaign, but United exercised a 12-month extension clause in January to prolong his stay.
Since then, the Spaniard has rarely started due to his hamstring issues, but he was one of the standout players during the 3-2 comeback win over Manchester City last weekend.
Herrera could earn his second successive league start on Sunday, should Jose Mourinho stick with the 4-3-3 formation against West Bromwich Albion.
