Given calls for Newcastle unity

Given calls for Newcastle unity

05 March 2008 - 15:35

Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given has called on his troubled club to start being more united as a team, and show that they can grind out the results that will help keep them in the Premiership this season. Kevin Keegan has yet to pick up a win.

  • "It's a tough time for everyone involved with the club - players, the management and supporters," Given told Sky Sports News.

"But it's a time when we've got to stick together and keep the belief.

"We did very well in the Blackburn game at the weekend and got robbed at the end, so we've got to take the positives and confidence from that game and roll on Liverpool.

"We know we're in a spot of bother at the minute and we have to work hard to get out of it.

"We have to believe we are going to stay in the league, but it's not just going to happen because we've got some very good players.

"We're going to have to grind out results. I don't care if it's pretty at this stage. It's all about getting points on the board and climbing out of trouble."
