Napoli have reached an agreement with Roma to sign Kostas Manolas for a fee of 36 million euros. The Greek international centre-back, coveted by Arsenal, has signed a four-year contract with the Naples side.

  • The 28-year-old will extend his stay in Serie A with the move to Napoli, with Carlo Ancelotti's side paying a huge transfer fee to secure the defender's services. It is understood that Manolas has been brought in to replace Raul Albiol, who is set to join Villarreal this summer.

The acquisition of Manolas begins what is expected to be a very active transfer window for the Napoli giants, who are revamping their squad to chase rivals Juventus in the race for the Serie A title.

Manolas leaves Roma after five years of service for the club and was a hugely popular player with the club's fans. It is understood that Roma are already seeking a replacement for the Greek international, with numerous names such as Arsenal's defender Shkrodan Mustafi mentioned in the Italian press.

The former AEK Athens and Olympiakos defender played over 200 games for the Roman giants, scoring 8 goals.
