Arsenal face transfer blow in Wilfried Zaha pursuit

03 July 2019 - 18:41

Arsenal are highly unlikely to pursue the signature of Wilfried Zaha, given Crystal Palace have not been impressed with their tactic to unsettle the forward.

  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • The north London side made an opening bid worth £40m for the winger earlier this week but that was swiftly rebuffed by the Eagles, who deemed the proposal to be embarrassing.

According to The Mirror, the south London outfit believe the Gunners' opening bid was a ploy to unsettle the winger and they are therefore unlikely to consider the prospect of selling the 26-year-old to the Emirates.

The Gunners have a limited £45m budget for the summer and manager Unai Emery may have to offload some of the existing players to recoup additional funds.

Carl Jenkinson, Calum Chambers, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Shkodran Mustafi are some of the mentioned names, who could be shown the exit door in the next few weeks.

Arsenal have made the single signing for this summer's transfer window with teenage forward Gabriel Martinelli joining them from Brazilian minnows Ituano for around £6m.
