Chelsea prepared to loan out 21-year-old defender

23 July 2019 - 17:32

Chelsea have reportedly planned to loan out Fikayo Tomori for the 2019/2020 season despite him being a regular during the pre-season matches.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Man City, Palmer starts
  • English striker wants £250k-a-week to join Man Utd

  • Tomori spent the previous campaign on loan with Derby County where he impressed under Frank Lampard, who is now the head coach of the Blues.

According to Standard Sport, the Blues are weighing up loan offers for the central defender as they seek to offer him the best chance of securing regular gametime next term.

Tomori has featured in a couple of pre-season games for the club this summer but the chances of first-team football remain minimal when the new season begins next month.

David Luiz, Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen are currently the other senior centre-backs participating in pre-season while Antonio Rudiger is expected to return from a knee surgery by September.

Chelsea have recently loaned out Ethan Ampadu to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. A number of other players including Matt Miazga and Lewis Baker will be heading out of the club on temporary deals.
