No Ronaldo, Nani for Portugal

No Ronaldo, Nani for Portugal

24 March 2008 - 15:54

Man Utd wing pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani have both been withdrawn from Portugal's midweek friendly match with Greece. Both are nursing minor injuries they picked up against Man Utd at the weekend.

  • Man Utd without four players for Bournemouth clash
  • Liam Rosenior on Enzo Fernandez's Chelsea future
  • Ricardo Quaresma and Simao Sabrosa ready to step up and stake their claim for a first-team spot instead, and the Man Utd pair will be keen to return soon to impress coach Scolari, who is looking to decide on his final line ups for the European Championships in the summer.

The decision to withdraw the pair will please Alex Ferguson, who has often complained that Portugal have overused Cristiano Ronaldo for international matches; particularly friendlies.
