PSG sign Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas

02 September 2019 - 21:18

Paris St Germain have completed a deal to sign Real Madrid and Costa Rica international goalkeeper Keylor Navas for a 15 million euro transfer fee. In exchange, Real have signed Alphonse Areola on loan until the end of the 2019/20 season.

  • Man Utd star preparing farewell video ahead of transfer

  • Navas has lost his number 1 jersey in Madrid to Belgium international goalie Thibaut Courtois, who arrived from Chelsea last year. Real Madrid were keen to keep hold of Navas, but the player instead opted to depart the club for pastures new and is sign as a major coup for PSG.

Navas, who won the 2017/18 UEFA Club Football Award for best goalkeeper, is considered one of the world's best keepers but has seen a performance slump in recent months.

Sergio Ramos, the club captain, posted a tweet in praise of Navas:

"Wishing you lots of such Keylor Navas, although you're not going to need it. Your mentality, your hard work and your human qualities speak for your wherever you go."

It is understood that Areola can make a permanent move to Real Madrid if he impresses this season.
