Chelsea receive fresh update on Mason Mount's ankle injury

Chelsea have received a positive update on midfielder Mason Mount following the ankle injury sustained during the Champions League clash against Valencia.

  • The England international picked up the damage following a strong tackle from Francis Coquelin in midweek and it was initially indicated that he may have sustained a long-term setback.

    However, according to The Sun, that does not appear the case with scans showing that the 20-year-old has not damaged any ligaments through the challenge from the former Arsenal man.

    It is added that the Blues graduate remains a touch and go for the forthcoming Premier League clash against Liverpool and a late fitness test may determine his involvement.

    Mount has been a revelation for the Blues since making his debut at the start of the campaign and he has already contributed three goals in the Premier League, where he has featured in the number 10 role.

    Aside from Mount, Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham have been handed with the opportunity to impress under Lampard and the duo have likewise delivered with standout performances.
