Premier League side Newcastle United are reportedly planning a loan proposal for Chelsea defender Reece James when the transfer window reopens.
The Magpies have impressed under Steve Bruce this term but they are still aiming to bolstering their squad in the New Year to give their best chance of beating the drop.
According to The Sun, the Magpies are looking into an audacious loan swoop for James, who has yet to establish himself as a regular with the Blues under manager Frank Lampard.
The England youth international made his debut for the Blues last month with a goal and an assist against Grimsby in the League Cup but he has since been restricted to just one more start across all competitions.
In terms of the Premier League, he continues to remain behind Cesar Azpilicueta in the pecking order for the right-back spot and it remains to be seen whether the Blues are prepared to sanction his temporary exit.
