Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has decided to keep Dejan Lovren until the end of this season, according to Football Insider.

  • Liverpool were previously in talks with Serie A giants AS Roma to sell the Croatian in a £20 million deal. It was reported that Roma wanted Lovren to replace Kostas Manolas who has left the club to join rivals Napoli. However, AS Roma managed to land Chris Smalling who joined them on loan from Manchester United last summer.

Lovren is known to be a fourth-choice defender as the German coach prefers Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez over him. However, the 30-year-old was a starter in the 3-1 win against Manchester City yesterday. He has stepped up to become Virgil van Dijk’s partner at the back in the absence of Joel Matip, who is still recovering from a knee injury.

Football Insider said that Lovren’s future with Liverpool will be evaluated at the end of the season.
