Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has stressed that he is committed to the Gunners amid the recent speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

  • The Gunners captain has been regularly linked with a departure from the north London giants and reports have even claimed that he may have handed in a transfer request.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has already dismissed the prospect of Aubameyang heading through the exit door in the near future and the 30-year-old has now shown that he is committed to the team.

In his programme notes ahead of the FA Cup third round tie, Aubameyang said: "People like making up stories and they should focus on what's happening on the pitch.

"They talk too much and it does my head in! I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs."

Aubameyang has only 18 months remaining on his contract with the club and reports have suggested that there has been no breakthrough with regards to the extension.

Still, Aubameyang's comments indicate that he is willing to negotiate a renewal and the next few months may give a fair idea whether he will pen a fresh and improved contract.
