Chelsea have reportedly initiated talks with defender Antonio Rudiger as they seek to reward him with a new long-term contract.
The Germany international has been with the Blues for the past two-and-a-half years and during this period, he has made 105 appearances across all competitions.
Rudiger's form has been average since his return from a groin problem earlier in the season but Sky Sports claims that the hierarchy are willing to extend his stay with the club.
The former AS Roma man has just over two years remaining on his current deal but plans are underway to prolong his contract until June 2023 with the option for another 12 months.
Still, no agreement will be reached as the present moment with the campaign being disrupted after the coronavirus pandemic. As of now, there are no plans to restart the English season next month.
Chelsea are likely to make a number of changes to the squad ahead of next season but there are concerns that their plans may be hampered by the ongoing shutdown.
