Arsenal are reportedly in constant contact with Atletico Madrid as they seek to land the signature of midfielder Thomas Partey.
Partey has been earmarked as the prime transfer target for the Gunners and the Ghanaian has already given the go-ahead for the move through his agent.
Still, there has been no progress in the transfer talks, but the north London side remain optimistic of reaching an agreement with Atleti for the midfielder's services.
According to The Guardian, the Gunners are currently not in a position to trigger the £43m release clause on the player's contract, but they are hopeful of negotiating a lesser fee.
So far, there has been no indication whether Atleti would be prepared to negotiate on the figure. Meanwhile, it has been reported elsewhere that Alexandre Lacazette could be offered in a possible exchange deal for Partey.
The Frenchman has been a long-term target for Diego Simeone's side. He was heavily linked with a move to the La Liga outfit prior to joining the Gunners three years ago.
