Paul Robinson urges Leeds United to sign Spurs defender

Former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson has urged Leeds United to consider a move for Danny Rose during the forthcoming transfer window.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Spurs, Gilchrist starts
  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs

  • The England international is deemed surplus to requirements and was recently left out of the club's Premier League and Europa League squads.

Rose has just eight months remaining on his contract with the club and reports claim that he could leave on a free transfer in January.

Speaking to Football Insider, Robinson believes Rose could be the perfect fit for Leeds, who are working with makeshift left-backs in Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski.

"The contract situation will be resolved eventually and I would just like to see Danny Rose get out there and play football," the former Leeds and Spurs goalkeeper said.

"Leeds have had Stuart Dallas and [Ezgjan] Alioski playing there but to have someone like Danny Rose as part of the squad, on a free transfer, that would be a no brainer for anyone."

Rose was linked with a potential loan move to the Serie A with Genoa before the transfer deadline, but the deal fell through as they could not afford his wages of around £60,000-a-week.

Spurs currently have Sergio Reguilon as the first-choice left-back with Ben Davies providing the back-up off the bench. Reguilon joined the club from Real Madrid this summer. Los Blancos have a buy-back option included.
