Chelsea are reportedly considering an approach to sign Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi this summer.
The Blues currently have Cesar Azpilicueta and Reece James as the right wing-back options, and the latter is the undisputed starter.
James was excellent last term with six goals and 10 assists, but reports claim that the Blues are weighing up a summer move for Hakimi.
According to The Athletic, Hakimi is being eyed as a replacement for Azpilicueta, but it appears unlikely that he will accept a back-up role.
Blues manager Thomas Tuchel has played James on the right side of the back three on multiple occasions, and it could be a solution next season.
In this case, both James and Hakimi would make the starting XI. Chelsea are set for a busy summer ahead with several new signings planned.
The backline could see a big rebuild with central defensive duo Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen leaving on free transfers.
Marcos Alonso is also pushing for a move to Barcelona. The same is the case with Cesar Azpilicueta, who has agreed terms with the LaLiga side.
