Manchester United are prepared to open talks with Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah amid interest from Liverpool, according to Caught Offside.
The Red Devils are planning to bolster their central defensive department this summer. The club are set to lose Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans on free transfers and could replace the duo with an experienced recruit.
Tah is free to leave Leverkusen when his contract expires on June 30. He can negotiate with foreign clubs and United are preparing a contract proposal for the 29-year-old, who is on the radar of several sides.
The Germany international has decided to pursue a new challenge in his career and would prefer a switch away from the Bundesliga.
Barcelona are long-term admirers of him, but may not provide playing time guarantees. United could do so under manager Ruben Amorim.
Amorim has stuck with a 3-4-2-1 formation since his arrival at the helm and Tah could slot into one of those central defensive positions.
