Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount picked up a muscle injury during the friendly against Paris Saint-Germain earlier today.
The England international has had a fantastic pre-season for the Red Devils, catching the eye with his performances from a deeper midfield role.
However, he picked up an unfortunate injury against PSG and had to be substituted in the first half of the encounter.
The news is a big blow for the player as well as United. Mount was reviving his career and may now spend a spell on the sidelines.
Meanwhile, United did not feel the need to land another midfielder after Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos due to Mount's progress.
Mount's upcoming absence for the new campaign means that the Red Devils could be forced to enter the market for a replacement.
They were looking at a cost effective signing and may have to revive their plans, given Mount could be sidelined for a notable period of time.
