I want Arshavin - Abramovich

24 June 2008 - 07:29

Roman Abramovich has told new Chelsea boss Luis Felipe Scolari to sign Russian playmaker and Euro 2008 star Andrei Arshavin at any cost. Arshavin is currently regarded as the best playmaker in Europe, better than the Argentine wonderkid Lionel Messi and Portugese winger Crisitano Ronaldo.

  • Roman Abramovich is hungry to win the English Premier League and the Champions League - Scolari has been signed as the new boss with these ideas in his mind. The Russian billionaire wants to sign top quality players in his Chelsea squad and wants the hottest property of Europe - Andrei Arshavin - to be in Stamford Bridge this summer.

Arshavin's magical display against Holland on Saturday was witnessed by Abramovich and that alone has tipped him as Chelsea's prime target for this summer, ahead of Scolari's favourite - Deco. Abramovich is reportedly going to make a £20M offer for the 27-year old Russian.

Arshavin made himself the best in Europe by helping Zenit St Petersburg the Uefa Cup and also making them the Russian Premier League winners. He had been approached by Newcastle United as early as this January and a £11M bid was rejected by Zenit. Arsenal is also interested in the service of the playmaker and Wenger has openly declared his interested.

The Zenit coach Dick Advocaat admitted that Arshavin is bound to leave the club and will be joining a top club in Europe. Arshavin had declared that he would love to play in La Liga, with Barcelona and Real Madrid showing keen interest in signing the player.
