Everton eyes Bent

Everton eyes Bent

24 June 2008 - 07:31

Tottenham's unsettled striker Darren Bent is closely watched by Everton. Reports claim that Spurs are willing to offload the 24-year old to Everton this summer.

  • Arsenal to swap Gabriel Jesus for Inter Milan star?
  • Arsenal leading race to sign Belgian midfielder

  • Darren Bent has not been convincing enough for Juande Ramos to keep him for the next season. Bent has started in 11 matches for the Spurs, scoring 6 goals. The Spurs are looking forward to land new strikers, and they have already signed Barca wonder-kid Giovani dos Santos for this role. Although Berbatov, the spearhead of the Tottenham attack is bound to leave the club this summer, Darren Bent has shown no favours.

Everton had shown keen interest in signing the former Charlton Athletic striker. They had tried to swoop him from Ipswich way back in 2005, although lost out on that opportunity failing to act promptly. David Moyes has placed Andy Johnson on the transfer market for £7M as a step to make money for buying Bent.

Bent would cost as much as £8M, although Spurs signed him for a whopping £16.5M. The Spurs have been approached by Sunderland and Celtic, who wants to take the player in a loan deal.
