Chelsea chase Huntelaar

Chelsea chase Huntelaar

04 July 2008 - 15:45

Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari is considering a move for Holland international striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar this summer. It is understood that Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for Didier Drogba - persistently linked with a Stamford Bridge exit - and that Huntelaar has caught the eye. The Ajax frontman was recently in discussions regarding a new deal, but these negotations fell through.

  • Now Chelsea are to test Ajax's resolve, despite a hefty looking £22 million pricetag the Dutch giants have slapped on the player. Scolari has already splashed the cash on a couple of interesting buys; such as Jose Bosingwa, and is known to be anxious to find the perfect striking solution.

Chelsea will however be wary that Manchester United and Real Madrid are both interested in the Dutch striker, and both have the money to capture the frontman.

Recently in the week, it was reported that Chelsea have already given Scolari an estimated £250 million to spend on new acquisitions.
