Chelsea exodus begins?

21 September 2007 - 12:17

In the wake of Jose Mourinho's shock departure from Chelsea, several media outlets are reporting that Didier Drogba could too be following the Portuguese manager out of the club.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • Didier Drogba was reportedly in tears as Mourinho said his good byes at training, and a friend of the Ivorian has said, "Didier is absolutely furious with Chelsea and cannot believe they would sack Mourinho like this.

"He looked on Jose as his mentor and does not know that he can achieve his best form for Chelsea under another coach.

"It will take a few weeks yet before heÂ’s fit to play but itÂ’s a matter of when and not if that heÂ’ll leave the club."

Drogba had been the subject of £25m interest from AC Milan, and this latest news could spark a transfer battle between the player's agents and the Chelsea backroom staff.

Also reportedly unhappy is Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien. The player is reportedly fuming at Mourinho's departure, and the player has only 21 months left on his contract and has stalled over signing a new deal.
