Fletcher staying at Man Utd

Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that midfield general Darren Fletcher will be staying at the club. Ferguson revealed that persuading the midfielder to stay was the biggest bonus for him.

"A lot of clubs were trying to buy him," he said. "Fletcher signing a new contract has probably been the relief of the season for us.



"I said to him, 'Look, you were brought up at this club, you've got to recognise that we were playing you in all the big games last season until you got an injury in February."



It is understood that Tottenham were in the market for the midfielder.
