Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will make Luka Modric the highest paid player in the club's history, in a last ditch effort to stave off the interests of Chelsea in the Croatian midfielder.
Modric has been persistently linked with a move to join Chelsea and the Andre Villas-Boas revolution, however Tottenham coach Harry Redknapp told his chairman to do everything he can to keep the player.
It is believed that Tottenham will offer Modric a new four year contract worth an estimated £110,000 per week.
Modric himself has hinted he is interested in a move, but still has two years remaining on his current Tottenham deal.
