Arsenal in shock Lucas offer?

Arsenal have been linked with a shock move for Brazil international midfielder Lucas. Liverpool are ready to listen to offers for the player who has just returned from the Copa America tournament in Argentina.

Lucas Leiva joined Liverpool in a 6m GBP deal back in 2007 under the management of Rafa Benitez, but new boss Kenny Dalglish has told sources at the the club that he is free to leave if an offer of 8m GBP is made.

As it stands, no club has made an offer for the player, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is interested and will make an offer if Cesc Fabregas joins Barcelona, as expected.

Lucas himself has told friends that he is ready to quit Anfield and is unlikely to feature regularly in the Liverpool line up next year after the midfield trio of Stewart Downing, Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam joined the club.

Kenny Dalglish is considering a midfield duo of Steven Gerrard and Charlie Adam, and so Lucas may find himself on the bench in the coming months if a deal cannot be agreed.
