Poyet backs Suarez on racism charge
Poyet backs Suarez on racism charge
Brighton manager Gus Poyet has defended fellow countryman and Liverpool striker Luis Suarez, after the Uruguayan forward had been charged with racist comments directed to Man Utd striker Patrice Evra.
The FA decided to charge Suarez last week on the grounds that there is now some evidence for Evra's claim.
But Brighton boss Gus Poyet seems to be behind Suarez: "Luis is not a racist. We use different words and it is a different situation.
"You cannot accuse people without a proper investigation, especially when it's a foreigner who is coming from a different place where we treat people of colour in a different way.
"So it was very easy to accuse someone. Luis Suarez is 100percent not a racist.
"Me, I'm not racist. I've lived with people of different colours in different countries and I adapted to every single situation. Suarez needs to adapt to England, and England needs to adapt to the players that come here."
