Man Utd tracking Mehdi Benatia

Manchester United's chief scout Martin Ferguson has been personally monitoring the progress of Mehdi Benatia, Udinese's 24 year old defender. The Moroccan international is valued at 9m GBP by the Serie A side.

Man Utd want to bring in a new defender in the next six months to put pressure on Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic. The former has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, and it appears that Sir Alex Ferguson is already on the look out for long term replacements.


The former Marseille man has been a revelation since arriving in Serie A, and many of Europe's biggest clubs have all been watching the defender in action.
