Anelka requests transfer out of Chelsea

French forward Nicolas Anelka has requested a transfer in January. The former Arsenal, Bolton and Liverpool striker has told Andre Villas-Boas that he wants to leave, and Russian side Anzhi are preparing a move for the forward.

Anelka has found opportunities limited at the Blues this year, as the impressive Danny Sturridge has taken the first team place alongside either Didier Drogba or Fernando Torres.


Alex earlier this morning also submitted a transfer request, and both players will be leaving in January after Chelsea confirmed that both could leave the club should their asking price be matched.
