Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be delighted to hear that after an appeal, UEFA have overturned a 3 match ban for Euro 2012, and adjusted the forward's suspension to two games.

United's frontman was sent off in the Euro 2012 qualification game against Montengro for kicking out at opponent Miodrag Dzudovic.

With the help of Dzudovic, who defended the striker after the incident; Rooney presented a case at the appeal and the striker successfully saw his 3 match ban reduced.

Rooney attended the appeal with England manager Fabio Capello, as the United man happened to be in Switzerland after seeing his club out of Champions League last night to Basel.

Adrian Bevington, the FA communications director, admitted he was delighted with the outcome:

"We've had a very fair hearing. Wayne and Fabio are both very pleased. Wayne will head back to Manchester as a matter of priority.Wayne has always made clear that he accepted it was a red card offence."
