Ferguson hopes Rooney starts goalscoring run
Ferguson hopes Rooney starts goalscoring run
After Wayne Rooney helped Manchester United to a 4-1 victory over Wolves on Saturday, scoring two goals, Sir Alex Ferguson tipped the 26 year old to renew his goalscoring run and help United in their pursuit of the Premier League trophy.
United crashed out of the Champions League during midweek and Ferguson wants Rooney to help his team close the gap between city rivals Man City and United.
"Sometimes strikers do score in spurts, and hopefully that's Wayne off now on one those really good spurts of his," Ferguson told Sky Sports.
"He scored nine in the early part of the season. Now we are going up to an important part of the season, if we get the goal ratio again, it puts us in good fettle."
