Keegan slams Liverpool striker Carroll
Liverpool legend Kevin Keegan has slammed striker Andy Carroll, and claimed that the former Newcastle man is not worth anywhere near the £35 million that the Reds paid for him.
Andy Carroll moved to Liverpool from Newcastle as part of a £35 million transfer, and many think that the signing of the player was rushed as the Reds looked to replace Fernando Torres quickly, who joined Chelsea for £50 million the day before.
“He’s a decent player but he’s not a £35m player. If you’re paying £35m, you should be getting an instant, ready-made, world-class guy," said Keegan.
“When they bought Suarez, he was a proven goalscorer at international level, who had won the Golden Boot with Ajax. He couldn’t have been more different to Andy Carroll.
“If you asked Carroll if he thought that at this stage he’d be a £35m player for one of the biggest clubs in the world, he’d probably say no."
