Sunderland have signed Wayne Bridge on loan until the end of the season. The 31 year old has signed a short term deal with the Black Cats with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

The defender has only played once this year, and Roberto Mancini urged the defender to find a new club earlier in the season.

"I'm hoping that with Wayne's ability and experience he can be a big help," said Black Cats boss Martin O'Neill.

"I'm very pleased to have him here and with the number of injuries we've sustained recently I'm sure he'll be a great help to us."
