Man Utd manager hopes De Gea continues form
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson wants number 1 keep David De Gea to find inspiration from his wonder save against Chelsea last weekend. The Spaniard kept out a stunning effort from fellow countryman Juan Mata in stoppage time, to ensure a share of the spoils for the league champions.
De Gea has come in for much criticism this year for a number of high profile errors in big games. But Ferguson has backed De Gea to learn from all of those, and to continue to prove to be one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe, if not the world.
"I don't know if any other goalkeeper in the country would have saved that shot from Mata," Ferguson said. "His speed and agility is outstanding.
"David knows he had a bad day against Liverpool in the cup, but goalkeepers can have those days. Last week's performance will help. He saved us a point.
"When you get a free-kick with the last kick of the game and your goalkeeper makes a save like that, you have to say it's a point saved."
