Newcastle urge Bent to lower wage demands
Newcastle United's move for Darren Bent could collapse after the Toon Army reportedly found out what the striker is currently earning at Darren Bent. Newcastle want to sign the England international but are not prepared to match his current salary.
Bent is currently surplus to requirements at Villa Park and had been told by manager Paul Lambert that the club would not stand in his way if he wishes to leave.
Bent is disheartened that Christian Benteke is the new first choice striker at Aston Villa and has decided that it is time for him to make a move if he is to stand a chance of making England's squad for next year's World Cup.
The forward has also been linked with a move to Fulham in recent weeks, whilst West Ham were also lining up Bent as a backup signing should their move for Andy Carroll fall through.
