Aston Villa have completed the signing of Danish striker Nicklas Helenius from Aalborg BK. He became the fourth signing this summer for Paul Lambert.

Lambert has bought Helenius for 1.2 million pounds, who happens to be in the final year of his current contract. Before Helenius, Lambert has already got Bulgarian midfielder Aleksander Tonev, Dutch midfielder Leandro Bacuna and Danish stopper Jores Okore to his side.

The Scottish manager said : “Nicklas is a young lad but he is also a full international with a good goalscoring record. He will prove himself in the Premier League."

“The potential is there for him to grow into the team and grow with the team.”

Villa had already made an announcement last Tuesday that they were closing in on a deal with the Danish club over Helenius, adding that the transfer would be secured within 10 days, subject to medical and personal terms.

Helenius scored 16 goals in the 33 league games he played for Aalborg last season. The 6ft 5in frontman has two senior international caps. He revealed his excitement to join Christian Benteke at Aston Villa.

Helenius said: “Anyone can see the quality of Christian. It’s really exciting to be part of this.”

He went on to praise his Aalborg mentor Kent Nielson, who was also a Villa defender, to have taught him aggresion and hard work.

"I learnt a lot over the past few seasons with  Kent Nielsen as my manager"

"He was a player here at Villa and, while I have always been a good finisher, he taught me to be more aggressive and determined when I don't have the ball."
