Arsenal to bid for Greek International Kyriakos Papadopoulos?

The Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly joined the fight to sign Schalke 04 centre-back Kyriakos Papadopoulos.

The North London Club have been linked with a number of  top-class defenders this summer, including the likes of Lorenzo Melgarejo and Ashley Williams.

The Greek International Papadopoulos is being rowed up as an alternate option as talks for the other targets are moving very slowly as per Wenger's liking.

Liverpool have also been linked to the Greek centre-back, but his agent has said that the player is happy to stay at Schalke 04 for the meantime.

It is understood that Papadopoulos has a release clause of £19m in his contract.

Papadopoulos has been impressive throughout his stay at Schalke 04 since his move from Olympiacos in 2010 which has earned him a first team spot in the Greek National side.

Papadopoulos has made 92 appearances for the German club scoring 7 goals in the process.

Arsenal would be willing to add the Greek International into their ranks as he has great vision and a powerful tactical mindset while defending.
