Liverpool in control of Luis Suarez's future

Liverpool in control of Luis Suarez's future

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers refused to be drawn on reports that Real Madrid have made an offer for Uruguayan forward Luis Suarez. The striker, who is currently away on international duty at the Confederations Cup, is reportedly miserable with his current situation at Anfield and is actively seeking a move away.

Real Madrid are currently locked in talks with Paris St Germain's coach Carlo Ancelotti. The Spanish team are hopeful that they can secure his signature as a replacement for Jose Mourinho, meanwhile the club are also busy in their efforts to find Europe's best players in preparation for the new year. Thus, their interest in Luis Suarez appears to have intensified.

On the other hand, Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers is desperate to keep his best players and has insisted the long term future of Luis Suarez will be at his club: "For me there is no real change in it. He’s away with the Uruguay squad at the moment and we’re messaging and what not.

"I will always listen to players. I always work closely with players and listen to their point of view but the biggest word is with the club.

"We’re in a situation where we’ve got a player who we don’t want to lose. We’re trying to build something here and he’s a very important part of that and because of the type of player he is he will always give his best."

Liverpool have already signed Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas, giving them two potential replacements readymade should Suarez eventually leave the club.
