As reported by Goal, Arsenal might just be leading the race for Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar’s summer move. As suggested by Cesar in his statements, it seems likely that the QPR asset would like to stay in London.

After winning the Confederations Cup, he talked to the reporters in Brazil:-

“Now I have to do things right at my club so I can be considered for the World Cup.”

“Did my son say he wants to stay in London? Yes, me too. I love the city and I’m enjoying living there.”

Now that Brazil have finished their Confederations Cup campaign on a winning note, it looks as if the doubt over the goalkeeper’s future is likely to be resolved. Cesar has been in demand recently with the Gunners and Roma showing some interest in him.

Cesar is wanted by the Italian outfit Roma who are keen to have him in their squad. But as reported earlier Arsenal, who are in utter need of improvement in the goalkeeping division, are also keen to seize his summer move. They have already opened formal talks with his club QPR over a potential deal worth 1.2million euros.

The goalkeeper has been in tremendous form recently in the Confederations Cup, winning the Golden Glove as he conceded only three goals in the tournament and made some really impressive saves  for Brazil against Spain in the finals.

The Hoops boss Harry Redknapp seems to have resigned himself to his experienced stopper’s exit from the club, following the club’s relegation to the championship.

“He’s a top class goalkeeper, Brazil’s No.1. He’s been in great for Brazil and I presume there’s a big club out there for him.

"He won’t want to play in the Championship, he’s a goalkeeper for a big club.”
