Chelsea monitoring Daniele De Rossi

According to the Italian media, Chelsea have made an opening offer for Daniele De Rossi after Roma confirmed of his name up for sale on the transfer market.

Calciomercato suggest today that Chelsea's new manager Jose Mourinho is regenerating his interest in the Italy midfielder, having already failed to sign him twice at Inter and Real Madrid.

De Rossi at the moment looks most likely than ever to leave the Stadio Olimpico after a well below-par Serie A  campaign in which his association with the fans as well as the club hit a new low.

At the start of the week, Roma President James Pallotta confirmed “everybody is on the market,” including their ‘future captain.’

However reports claim the West London club have initially offered around £8.5m which is well below the value to tempt the Giallorossi into a sale.

De Rossi also has interest elsewhere from Manchester City and Manchester United.
