Mike Phelan Feels Wayne Rooney May Leave The Club
Former assistant manager at Manchester United Mike Phelan admits that star striker Wayne Rooney might be on the verge of a club exit. He also states that Portuguese ace Christiano Ronaldo could be seen playing for United.
Phelan believes that Wayne Rooney, who is seemingly flattered by Chelsea’s £20 million bid for him, may be in the search for fresh challenges away from the Old Trafford.
“He is still is at the greatest club he could be at, so why would you want to jeopardise that unless you want a fresh challenge and you don’t think that challenge is being met at Manchester United?”
“He might have hit a little bit of a blip in certain performances and then it’s easy to find fault with that, but he isn’t the first player to do that and he won’t be the last”, he added.
“You have to get as much out of them as you can and I think Wayne has responded as well as he feels he can do for Manchester United.”
David Moyes, who has recently taken up duty at United, is expected to sort out things with Wayne Rooney this week.
Phelan, in his recent interview with BBC Five Live, offered a “no comment” reply to the questions regarding Sir Alex Ferguson’s attempt to lure back Ronaldo to the Old Trafford. Although Ronaldo himself might be open to a move back to his former club.
