Manchester United Confident Of Wrapping Up Thiago Deal

Manchester United are believed to be closing in on Spain’s wonderkid Thiago Alcantara, as revealed by ESPN sources. ESPN claims that United have made some significant breakthrough in convincing the starlet to move to Old Trafford.

According to the report, the David Moyes led side are hopeful of wrapping up the deal soon now, after having faced some obstacles in Thiago’s signing. Alcantara was understood to be a done deal for United until his representatives demanded for a clause from the club that would allow the youngster to leave for some particular fees if he does not get adequate first-team opportunities.

The Barcelona youth starlet led the Spanish U21 team to victory in the European U21 Championship recently and is available for a reduced fee of £15m presently due to the playing time release clause in his contract with the Catalans.

United are reportedly prepared to entertain Thiago’s demand of a similar clause in his contract as Moyes looks keen to make the star midfielder his first big signing for United this summer. Thiago’s frustration due to limited first-team opportunities at Barcelona is already evident and Manchester United will do everything to exploit this window of his reduced release amount of 18million euros that would shoot back to 90million euros by the end of July.

David Moyes will look to complete this move as soon as possible now, considering United’s poor track record of finalizing long-running transfer sagas- Wesley Sneijder, Mesut Ozil and Karim Benzema to name a few, who despite being linked very strongly to the Old Trafford decided to move elsewhere in the end.
