Moyes confirms new United bid for Fabregas

First signing for Moyes?

New Manchester United manager David Moyes has confirmed that the club have already tabled their second bid for the Barcelona playmaker.

The former Everton boss took over from Sir Alex Ferguson earlier this summer after the latter decided to hang up his boots after 26 years at the club. Moyes has, since then, reiterated the club's desire to make new additions to the side amidst widespread anxiety among the fans worldwide.

The reigning Premier League champions were reportedly favorites to sign Thiago Alcantara from the Catalan giants but eventually lost out to Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich.Having missed out on Alcantara and Strootman, Moyes has now turned to the former Arsenal captain to strengthen his midfield.

Barcelona have maintained that Fabregas is not for sale but Moyes admitted that the club has made a second offer to the La Liga champions.

Speaking a press conference at Yokohama, Japan, Moyes stated : As I understand it, Ed had a response (to the first offer). We have made a second offer but Ed is dealing with it rather than me."

Ed Woodward, the new Chief Executive of Manchester United, had to fly back to England in the middle of the club's pre season tour of Australia to handle transfer negotiations over the 26 year old midfielder.

United's new offer is believed to be in the region of £30 million along with multiple add ons for the club.
