Napoli Reach Agreement With Real Madrid For Higuain

According to news reports making the rounds in Spain, Napoli have finally reached an agreement with Real Madrid over the price of striker Gonzalo Higuain.

A report in AS claimed that the Serie A outfit have agreed on a 37 million euro plus a further 3 million euro in form of bonus, subject to activation of certain clauses, with the La Liga giants. Higuain is expected to fill in the void created by Edinson Cavani’s departure.

It is believed that Higuain could now be leaving Bernabeu for San Paolo, after negotiating personal terms with the club. His image rights, however, are proving to be something of a stumbling block in the deal as Napoli are eager to take control of his image rights, which is reportedly not acceptable to Higuain.

Napoli are prepared to offer him a bumper increase in his weekly wage. The Argentine earns a modest €75,000-a-week at Madrid and Napoli are set to offer him €116,000-a-week starting salary, a figure that the striker had agreed on with the Gunners.

Arsenal, who were at one stage very close to completing the deal for Higuain, are understood to be still monitoring his situation but Arsene Wenger is more tempted to sign Luis Suarez now.
