Steven Gerrard Wants Suarez To Wait For Clubs Like Real Madrid And Barcelona
Luis Suarez has been one of the most discussed players for a transfer this season. He is being fiercely chased by Premier League rivals Arsenal and, according to latest reports, Tottenham.
Despite interest from Arsenal, Liverpool’s captain Steven Gerrard feels that the Uruguayan should wait for a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona, instead of hasting a move to the Emirates. Gerrard feels that the 26-year-old should leave Liverpool only if either of the Spanish giants place an offer for him.
Gerrard said that he understands Suarez’s desire for Champions League football but he feels that Arsenal is no better a destination than the La Liga teams.
"I don't think Arsenal are a step up. Us, Arsenal and Tottenham are fighting for one of the Champions League places.”
“We’ve got just as good a chance of achieving things as Arsenal have."
Gerrard rates the 26-year-old as equal to Spurs star Gareth Bale. According to the Liverpool skipper, the club needs to retain Suarez if they want to compete for the top-four places in the table.
"Alongside Bale, Luis is the third best player in the world after Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Luis and Bale are the two hottest properties out there at the moment.
"This club needs to make one or two big signings if we are to compete for the top four – and keep Suarez."
