Arsene Wenger Revives Interest In Ashley Williams

Arsenal’s injury struck defence has coerced manager Arsene Wenger into looking for a defensive signing this season. According to reports, he has revived interest in Swansea captain Ashley Williams to soothe his team’s injury woes.

Wenger had asked his scouting team to monitor the Wales centre-half in Europa League win against Malmo on Thursday.


It was believed earlier that the £10million release clause of the aforementioned player had caused Wenger to strike his name off the shopping list but it has been reported by Mirror that the Welsh outfit could agree on a lesser fee, in the region of £8.5million, if a top club is interested.


Wenger has to manage without Thomas Vermaelen, who is out for six weeks due to a back injury, and Nacho Monreal could also miss the start of the season.
