Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has revealed that Arsenal have not improved their 'derisory' offer for French midfielder Yohan Cabaye.

The Gunners made a shock bid for the France international this summer but the Magpies' boss turned the offer down and they have not come back with a renewed offer ever since.

The 27 year old has been the subject of interest of plenty of top clubs across Europe but Pardew is not keen on letting go of his star midfielder unless the his valuation of the player is met by any of his suitors.

Pardew said: "I think the situation with Yohan is an ongoing situation and we will take each day as it comes.

"There's been one bid and I've turned that down, and that's really all I'm going to say on that."

The Newcastle boss was in France to discus the club's transfer policy with owner Mike Ashley after having a summer of inactivity but remain hopeful of making additions to the squad in the final one week of the transfer window.

Pardew added: "I was there to get together with the owner and get ourselves a game-plan going towards the final week of the window, and that's what we did."
