Barcelona sporting director Sandro Rosell has confirmed that Lionel Messi has not asked the club to offer him an improved contract after Cristiano Ronaldo was made the highest earning player in the world by Real Madrid.

Reports in Spain have suggested that Ronaldo's recent contract extension with the Los Blancos is likely to influence the Barcelona star to seek a better wage from his employers. Rosell insisted that the Argentine star is happy with his current contract and there has been no communication from his end.

He told reporters: "Does Ronaldo's renewal affect Messi's contract? Messi hasn't said anything to us.

"He's happy here and he's at the best club in the world. No news is good news."

However, Rosell is hopeful that the club would be able to conclude a contract extension with Andres Iniesta whose current contract is due to expire in 2015.

He added: "Iniesta's renewal won't be a problem. The wish of both parties is to renew the contract."
