Manuel Pellegrini pleased with Manchester Derby win

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini praised his players after they trounced Manchester United in the Manchester Derby on Sunday by a scoreline of 4-1.

A brace from Sergio Aguero and two additional goals from Samir Nasri and Yaya Toure sealed City's drubbing of the Premier League champions, while Rooney grabbed the late consolation for the Red Devils with a fantastic free-kick.

City looked in control of the game from the start to the finish and manager Pellegrini has admitted that the individual performances of the club’s stars as well as the team's tactical measures sealed a handsome win for the club.

Pellegrini was quoted saying by TalkSPORT“It’s impossible for a team to have a great performance if you don’t have players that individually have a great performance also.

“The team today played very, very well. Jesus Navas, Aguero and Samir Nasri will be very important for us this year, and defensively we are also very strong.

“We must play every game with the same attitude we showed against Man United.

“The Premier League is such a close contest that if you don’t start every game with 100 percent concentration and with that intensity it will be very difficult to win, but we did that today.”

Pellegrini also insisted that the club should not get carried away by the humiliation of the Red Devils and should concerntrate on the games to come.

He added saying: “It will do a lot for our confidence, but we’ve just played five games.

“There are a lot more games to come this season, and we have the Capital One Cup as well next week, which is an important competition for us. “We must keep improving every day and we must continue to perform as we did today.”
