Everton manager praises new club transfer policy
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has hit back at suggestions that the Toffees are following the likes of Tottenham in becoming a side that sell on their best players to other sides; with the Spanish coach suggesting that Everton are now able to keep hold of their best players.
Many Toffees' fans were disappointed to have lost the likes of Victor Anichebe and Marouane Fellaini to West Brom and Man Utd respectively during the last summer transfer window, but good news appears to be ahead as Roberto Martinez told reporters the club will no longer be selling their players to balance the books. Ross Barkley and Leighton Baines have been persistently linked with moves away from Goodison Park.
When asked about club transfer policies, Martinez quipped: "We were at that stage in the summer. But once we had that situation when Marouane [Fellaini] and Victor Anichebe left, that gave us the opportunity to reinvest and now we are in a position where we need a bit of continuity and time to squeeze our potential as a team."
