Middlesbrough sign Aston Villa shot-stopper Shay Given on loan

Championship outfit Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Aston Villa's veteran goalkeeper Shay Given on a one-month emergency loan.

The 37-year-old was associated with a switch to the Championship club on a temporary basis having seen the club's number one Jason Steele receive a three-match suspension.


The former Newcastle goalie has not featured for the Villans this season, after falling down the pecking order at Villa Park behind the likes of Brad Guzan and Jed Steer.


The Republic of Ireland International is expected to make his debut for Middlesbrough on Saturday against Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.
