Crouch: my defining moment

Peter Crouch has said that this could be the defining moment of his international career as he leads the line for England in the absence of Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney. Crouch scored the goal last week that secured victory over Austria and has bagged 11 goals in 19 games.

The lanky striker said on Liverpool's official website: "As a striker and having a chance to score that goal is something you dream of.

"There is a lot of responsibility on my shoulders, but I feel I have played enough games to accept that responsibility. I certainly believe I can do the business. It is a huge game."

"I'm still searching for a defining moment in my international career," he added.

"There have been a few great moments England-wise but the first thing I might be remembered for is a silly dance.”

"I was fortunate enough to get a goal in my first big tournament, the World Cup, and it would have been nice to go further then.”

"And I would have liked to score the goals that Michael Owen has scored, be remembered like that, scoring in massive games in the World Cup - or like David Beckham against Greece.”
